Hello and welcome to The Thrift and The Savvy!
My name is Heather and from a small suburban town on the east coast. I grew up in what most would consider your average American family and I had a simple, yet wonderful childhood alongside my friends and two younger siblings.
I began to focus on how to maximize my income and increase my savings when I was in college so I could pay for living expenses (rent, utilities, groceries, oh my!), yet also have fun on a very small income.
Although I now have a well-paying job in healthcare, I still like to find ways to be savvy with my income. Stretching-the-dollar, so to speak, is still important to me so I can better achieve my financial goals and enjoy the things I like. Like wine, traveling, and cats (did I mention I have three? Technically I have two, but Brian has one. Regardless, anyone with three cats is on the threshold of crazy!).
Anyway, I started this blog with hopes of helping others avoid unnecessary spending and to become financially savvy- regardless of income. Although this blog has now grown to encompass many things I love, there is always one goal in mind: to spend less on the things you enjoy. Here you will find anything from tips on conscientious spending to repurposing used items, DIY projects, and more! You may also find an occasional recipe or two, random photos of my cats, or other goings-on in my life.
I hope you enjoy!
